UVA Wise never closes

As I sit and watch news center 5.. I see all kinds of school on altered schedules and closed.. Wise, Dickenson and such are either on Delay or closed.. even Mountain Empire is delayed...

but UVA Wise is not even phased [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

You do know that if Wise County is closed or delayed you get an excused absence at UVA Wise if you are a commuter. At least this is how it was when I went, all my prof told us that the commuters didn't have to worry about showing up in incliment weather that any work or notes we missed could be made up easily. They don't close it much since they have enough students in campus housing that walk to class anyway.

trio, they have become pretty strict on this stuff this year....if you can't make it to class, or think you can't, do even bother going because they had all kinds of complaints with other people wrecking last winter so they have actually encouraged students to not make an attempt of driving to school, if inclement weather exists, unless you live inside the wise town limits...free days off and it don't count against you....haha...that is great

not to be a smart alec in any way. But at a university you are expected as a commuter to have ample transportation in any weather if the university decides that travel conditions are safe enough to get in. it seems as though one life is not as important to them anymore as a busload of 42. sad stuff honestly but as a "big kid" now you have to be there no matter what its like out there. in the 2 years i spent at rob you blind university in Johnson City, we never missed a day due to weather.

you're exactly right...they have over 1000 students living on campus...why shut the college down for the other 1000 commuters because they can still have class....as long as you make contact with the professor, they shouldn't care

I think I see trio's point of view it being the 2nd day of school (1st day for the MWF classes)...I wouldn't want to miss the 1st day of classes either

We had 2 snow days during my 4 years at Tech. And that's because there was inches of ICE covering everything. Stinkin' Blacksburg Transit kept us in class. If the buses can run, it's on! I, however, made my own snow days quite a few times. Watching people wipe out on snow/ice covered sidewalks on campus was funny and sad at the same time though. I do not miss walking around campus in Blacksburg Winter.
